Dear Parents,
I would like to welcome you and your child to my preschool.  I am SO VERY excited to start this year and have so much planned for your child. We will definitely have a fun learning experience.
I would like to tell you a little about myself, ever since I was a small child I wanted to be a teacher. I've loved to interact with children.  I started as a teacher’s Aid in high school helping out in kindergarten and first grade.  I attended Weber State University majoring in Early Childhood with reading as my concentration area.  I was employed by Weber State as a summer camp counselor where for a few summers we did a day camp experience with children.  My age group was 4-6.  I choose not to teach after school and raise a family.  I have four children, and have enjoyed spending countless hours volunteering and teaching in their schools.  When my youngest attended kindergarten I decided to pursue my teaching and teach preschool. I have been teaching Independently for 16 years.  I converted my three car garage into a fun and Beautiful Preschool Room. I Sold my Home in January and have been very blessed to be able to use the Cowboy Church in Hooper until I find a new Home for myself and the preschool!!!
I love to be out-doors, enjoying camping, the country, water sports, dirt bike riding, hiking etc. I enjoy sports and outdoor games with my children, we also play a lot of board, card games. I've enjoyed flower arranging, gardening and photography when time permits.  I have owned and operated my own wedding decorating business (White Knight Wedding Decor)  for 25 years.  I received my Medical Assistant degree 14 years ago and worked at Tanner Clinic Urgent Care and on the OB/GYN floor.  I have 4 children. Kody is my oldest, him and Sarah have three handsome little boys, ages 6, 4, 2. He is currently stationed in Kentucky. One of the Best but Hardest Joys in my life as a Military Mom and G-ma. My Daughter Jordyn and her husband Kody currently live in Farr West and are expecting a little boy in December. My son Preston loves the outdoors and fixing up his trucks, hanging with the Guys and riding snowmobiles and dirt bikes. My Baby Girl,  Rylan recently got married to Nate and they live in Roy.
They are all or have been excellent students with great grades. I contribute this to the fact that they have all been read too and love books (some more than others).  I strongly believe If You Can Read You Can Achieve !  It all begins with the Alphabet which will be a big focus in preschool this year  through play!!!!
I will have field trips  and parties every other month for the children. Field trips will depend on the Health of our state , as we go along this year.  Parents are welcome to chaperone on these.  I have lots of plans but other ideas or people you know would be greatly appreciated. I will have a list of these activities at the open house.
If you ever have any questions, ideas, concerns, or suggestions please just let me know.  We all learn in different ways.  I will do my best to present each area in every way to give the optimum learning experience.

                                                   Thank you,
                                                         Ms. Cherie

Meet the Teacher

Hi! My name is Ms. Cherie and I am going to be your Preschool Teacher! I have been teaching preschool for many years so I have a lot of fun games and things to learn with our new friends, I love preschool and think you will also, New things can be a little scary at first, you are probably a little nervous to meet me and be in our classroom, but I get a little nervous also to meet you because you are new to me and I want you to love Preschool and be happy here. Little Monkeys is a Happy Place to be!
I went to school also and I learned to write, count and read just like we will do in preschool! It is so much fun. We have lots of fun stories to read and games to play about them and things to make. MAYBE YOU COULD BRING YOUR FAVORITE BOOK TO THE OPEN HOUSE AND TELL ME ABOUT IT. I WOULD LOVE THAT.

I was born far away in a place called New Hampshire, when I was still little I moved to Utah, that’s where you and I live now. I have a Mom, Dad and 3 sisters and No brothers. I love to be with my family. Now that I am older I have four kids. 2 boys and 2 girls and I love them very much. Sometimes they  get to come and visit  in preschool and they are really fun. We have had a pet bunny, fishes, chickens and 5 dogs. Right now we just have one dog named Oakley. Oakley is a black dog and is very nice and loves to give doggie kisses.  Pets are fun to have but they have to be taken care of.

I love to play outside, go camping, boating, swimming, hiking, kyaking,  shoot my Bowe , ride my bike and have lots of fun playing games with my family. I bet you love to do some of those things to. I can’t wait to meet you and learn about all the things you like to do as we learn and grow together.

Please do not drop your child off  earlier then 5 minutes before class as we may be finishing up last minute center prep. They also must be picked up within 5-10 minutes after school ends. PLEASE BE IN TIME. Pickup procedures will be at the open house.

Your child will feel more comfortable if he or she knows what to expect.
Help your child look forward to coming to preschool. Talk about it in a friendly way so your child will think of it as a happy place.  Discuss preschool activities, school friends and all the fun things to do and learn. Log on to Little Monkeys Preschool on Facebook and share the Albums with them.  If your child expresses doubts and fears do not pass them off, try to answer all the questions in a positive, reassuring way and let your child know that there will be friendly people to help on those first uncertain days.  I am more then willing to come to your home and meet your child and learn/talk to them in their safe place also if you think its needed.

Remember your own reactions and attitudes will go a long way towards determining how your child feels about preschool.

PLEASE CALL/TEXT WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS!
With Love, Ms. Cherie      801-775-0301 Cherie0301@msn.com

LITTLE MONKEYS PRESCHOOL

Your child is making his first step into the world of education.  A new experience awaits him/her, and I am excited to be a part of that.  His/ Her experiences here will be a great beginning for the years of school ahead.

My goal for the school year is to have your child ready to enter kindergarten with a greater understanding of the alphabet and phonemic awareness and to develop a larger vocabulary, to know the differences in size, shapes, colors and numbers, to increase their coordination through music and movement, to gain ability to work alone and with others, share and take turns, win and lose in good spirit, to listen and learn.

I believe all these can be accomplished when learning is fun. We must remember that what looks like fun to us is a learning experience for any child. With all of us working together your child will have a positive learning experience that will have him excited to enter the public schools the coming year.

                      Thank you,

                                      Ms. Cherie

Little Monkeys Preschool
Preschool Time log

Good Teaching is 1/4 Preparation and 3/4 Theater!

1.Welcome activity/free time (app. 20min) gives the children a chance to adjust.  Children learn how to relate to each other, sharing, making choices, use their imagination, creativity and ability to lead and follow, to cooperate, obey rules etc.  Allows more individual attention to each child before structure begins.  Makes school time more relaxed.

2. Clean up time.(app 5min) preschoolers help clean up from free time play.  I always give a 5 minute countdown so they can “finish up”.  I expect the children to do most of the cleanup to encourage them to help each other.  Everyone I thank for helping.

3.Welcome - weather- season- date
recite :pledge-ABC’s & 123's (app.10min)we talk about the weather (chart), the season and may share stories personal or storybook about them.  I help the children learn the pledge , what it means and recite it.  We always say our ABC’s together and count.
we have our learning experience(lesson )at this time.

4.Learning tables\Centers(app. ?min)our theme is covered.  At this time we do our paperwork or other table work.  Calendars will explain what we did for the day.

5. Book time : silent & group(app.? min) preschoolers all need different amounts of time to finish learning tables, when done they choose a book until all children are done.  I then share a story with them, and we talk about the book in many ways.

6.  Snack time(app. 10min)gives a quick break. I teach them how to make many things.   We learn about manners, serving others, and to clean up after our- selves.  I will often read books dealing with food stories.  Children will learn how to wash their own cup and plates when needed, and vacuum up their spills, which they love to help do.  I try to be creative with our food experiences, relating them with things were learning: alphabet, colors, shapes etc.  I ask all preschoolers to bring snacks twice during the year and one on their birthday. I will also list this on the calendar.

7.  Music and/or physical activity(app.?min)I do music and P.E. with the children

8. Preschool finishes.

(These things all take place indoors as well as outdoors) I like them to be outdoors "creating" as well as indoors creating.

These are sometimes adjusted depending on the children and the structure that works best with each class.  I will adjust as we go along.
