Little Monkeys Preschool
Preschool Time log

Good Teaching is 1/4 Preparation and 3/4 Theater!

1.Welcome activity/free time (app. 20min) gives the children a chance to adjust.  Children learn how to relate to each other, sharing, making choices, use their imagination, creativity and ability to lead and follow, to cooperate, obey rules etc.  Allows more individual attention to each child before structure begins.  Makes school time more relaxed.

2. Clean up time.(app 5min) preschoolers help clean up from free time play.  I always give a 5 minute countdown so they can “finish up”.  I expect the children to do most of the cleanup to encourage them to help each other.  Everyone I thank for helping.

3.Welcome - weather- season- date
recite :pledge-ABC’s & 123's (app.10min)we talk about the weather (chart), the season and may share stories personal or storybook about them.  I help the children learn the pledge , what it means and recite it.  We always say our ABC’s together and count.
we have our learning experience(lesson )at this time.

4.Learning tables\Centers(app. ?min)our theme is covered.  At this time we do our paperwork or other table work.  Calendars will explain what we did for the day.

5. Book time : silent & group(app.? min) preschoolers all need different amounts of time to finish learning tables, when done they choose a book until all children are done.  I then share a story with them, and we talk about the book in many ways.

6.  Snack time(app. 10min)gives a quick break. I teach them how to make many things.   We learn about manners, serving others, and to clean up after our- selves.  I will often read books dealing with food stories.  Children will learn how to wash their own cup and plates when needed, and vacuum up their spills, which they love to help do.  I try to be creative with our food experiences, relating them with things were learning: alphabet, colors, shapes etc.  I ask all preschoolers to bring snacks twice during the year and one on their birthday. I will also list this on the calendar.

7.  Music and/or physical activity(app.?min)I do music and P.E. with the children

8. Preschool finishes.

(These things all take place indoors as well as outdoors) I like them to be outdoors "creating" as well as indoors creating.

These are sometimes adjusted depending on the children and the structure that works best with each class.  I will adjust as we go along.
